All current TSA permanent or competitive temporary employees, TSA-Wide. This position is part of the TSA Leadership Succession Planning and Development Program. This is not a permanent assignment; the initial tour of duty is normally 36 months, and with agency approval a second tour of duty up to 24 months. Any subsequent tour of duty extension beyond the second tour will be based on the Agency's needs.
This is a secondary law enforcement position. Under the authority of the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (PL 107-71, November 19, 2001), you will function as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer and perform the duties and responsibilities assigned to Federal Air Marshals.
The position is located in the Field Operations Branch, Training Center, Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (LE/FAMS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The LE/FAMS promotes public confidence in our Nation's civil transportation systems through effective risk-based strategic deployment of Federal Air Marshals (FAMs) and other LE/FAMS law enforcement resources in both air-and land-based mission assignments aboard U.S. air carriers, and in airports and other transportation modes within the Nation's general transportation systems. As the Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge (SAC), you will be responsible for performing the following duties:
To qualify for the SV-K Pay Band (equivalent to GS-15) you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the SV-J Pay Band or GS-14 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in state or local government or the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position.
