  • The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
  • Manage and review highly sensitive information from supporting documentation related to a variety of both naturalization and/or immigration (I and N) case file types.
  • Serve as A-file custodians in providing case file and data management support services to Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) and Customs Border Protection (CBP) office units.
  • Provide end-to-end support for naturalization ceremonies to include audits, secure certificate production and systems validation and reconciliation.
  • Perform analysis on files, reports, and information systems and databases to update information and maintain data integrity.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control review of official digitized records created for immigration case files.
  • Support incoming and outgoing mail operations within a field office to include inspection, processing, routing, and completion of activity logs and reports.
  • Manage and schedule applicant appointments through coordination with leadership and communicating directly with applicants and their representatives.
  • Provide training and mentoring support to entry-level clerical staff.

This position IS in the bargaining unit.

This position IS NOT considered "essential" for purposes of reporting to work when the facility might otherwise be closed.

Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas.

Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a probationary period of 1 year.

Typing Certification: Applicants must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. You can self-certify by submitting a statement that you can type this speed.

General Office Skills: Applicants must possess knowledge of general office automation software, practices, and procedures.

Physical Demands: Applicants must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

This position is with the United States Citizenship and Immigrations Services, West Palm Beach Field Office, located in sunny West Palm Beach, FL. The West Palm Beach Field Office is part of the S23 Tampa District in Florida. The other field offices within S23 are Tampa, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, and Orlando. West Palm Beach is in Palm Beach County on the east side of the state, north of Miami. It is a great place to live, thanks to its excellent weather, beach access, incredible restaurants, and more. This is not a remote position; you will be reporting to the office located in West Palm Beach, FL. However, there will be opportunities to telework.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 09/25/2024.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 09/25/2024.


GS-08: You qualify at the GS-08 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
  • Reviewing and screening immigration documents to ensure the consistency and validity of the data in the documentation submitted within the case and content management systems.
  • Handling and safeguarding secure materials in support of processing in accordance with existing policy, guidance, and laws.
  • Managing, maintaining and providing customer service support of appointments within a scheduling system.
  • Ensuring official records, electronic and physical, are compliant within case management systems per existing immigration policy, guidance, and law.
